Silicone Products Manufacturing Process

Due to silicone’s non-toxic, tasteless and high temperature resistance, Silicone products are widely used in more and more fields.

Even though the materials are both silicone ,however the production process is different according to different products ; In this guide, we’ll provide an introduction for different silicone molding processes:

Compression Molding

Compression molding, which is the most common, is mainly completed by the cooperation of the mold, and the shape of the mold determines the shape of the silicone product.

Today’s manufacturers frequently use both compression and injection molding but for different types of parts. Injection molding is typically a better choice for more complex parts, while compression molding is a great option for relatively simple designs, including ultra-large basic shapes that cannot be produced using extrusion techniques.

Injection Molding

Injection Molding is a manufacturing process for producing parts in large volume. It is most typically used in mass-production processes where the same part is being created thousands or even millions of times in succession.

This process is a combination of silicone and plastic, which requires high quality. Its products show good thermal stability, cold resistance, excellent electrical insulation performance.

Extrusion Molding

Silicone extrusion is the process whereby silicone is forced through a shaped die (a stainless steel disc with a pattern cut out) to produce cords, complex profiles and cross-sections.

silicone rubber is used as a sealant or adhesive. its high thermal and chemical resistance is widely used In the electronics industry. Besides of that, it is used in the medical technology, automotive and food industries, All applications have in common that high demands are placed on the material, as well as on the geometric dimensions, and thus on the manufacturing process.
